What is Sensitive Content on Twitter
Sensitive Content on Twitter refers to photos, videos, and gifs that display nudity, violence, or anything else that falls into the adult content category.
However, you can find almost anything and everything on the platform.
Therefore, the social media platform has guidelines to set apart potentially sensitive content from the rest.
To ensure that kids' content does not share the same Twitter feed with adult content, Twitter uses sensitive content warnings on accounts with default safety settings.
How to See Sensitive Content on Twitter
By default, Twitter shows content warnings like, “This media may contain sensitive material,” “This profile may include potentially sensitive content,” or “The following media includes potentially sensitive content.”
However, if you want to have access to NSFW content, you can’t just skip the warning message; you need to disable the sensitive settings on your account.
Simply access the “Settings and Privacy” option, find the “Privacy and Safety” tab, tap on “Content you see”, and check the “Display media that may contain sensitive content”.
By enabling sensitive content, your feed will not be censored anymore.
If you wish to hide sensitive content from your feed, simply uncheck the box and click save.
You can only change your sensitive content settings from the Twitter application or from Android devices. The Twitter app for iPhone does not have this setting available yet.
How to Post Sensitive Content on Twitter
If you intend to post content that involves violence or nudity, you need to adjust your media settings and mark your account as sensitive.
Here is how:
1. Open and log in to your Twitter account
2. Click on “More”.
3. Tap on “Settings and Privacy”.
4. Go to “Privacy and safety”.
5. Click on “Your Tweets”.
6. Check the box “Mark Media You Tweet as Containing Material that May be Sensitive”.
This will allow the display of your sensitive content in searches so that other users who have enabled their “Display media that may contain sensitive content” option can see your posts.
You access these settings from an Android phone, iPhone, and Web.
In conclusion, based on your preferences, select the settings you wish to change to be able to see sensitive media on your Twitter search or feed.
If you mark the media you post as sensitive, users who have not changed their default settings on Twitter will receive a potentially sensitive content warning when they access your profile.
